Cannondale App v3.0 introduces the “Start/End Ride” button. Now you have complete control over when your ride begins and ends. The Cannondale Wheel Sensor still enhances your ride tracking experience, but it is no longer required to record your rides.
To record rides with your phone's GPS, you must use the Start/End buttons on the Ride screen. Once you press “Start Ride,” the app will track your ride until you press “End Ride.”
The motion of the Wheel Sensor will no longer automatically trigger the app to start ride recording, but it will still be used in the background to ensure the most accurate data is captured.
What happens if I take a break mid-ride?
The Ride screen keeps counting your stats and auto-pauses your “Moving Time” while you’re stationary. It will automatically resume recording once you begin riding again.
What if I don’t have a Cannondale Wheel Sensor?
Now you can track your rides on any bike with the Cannondale App, even if your bike doesn’t have a Wheel Sensor.
I had incomplete GPS routes in the app before – will that still happen?
The app will now continue tracking your location until you press “End,” so you’ll log a complete route every time. Also, the app no longer requires “Always Allow” in your phone’s location permissions – “Allow While Using” will work just fine.
What happens if I do multiple rides on the same day?
Previous versions of the app would combine rides according to our logic, which was not always what the user wanted. With the 3.0 update it’s entirely up to you. Each time you tap the “Start” button and then “End” after your ride is completed, that will be one ride. If you want to string multiple ride segments together into one longer ride, just keep recording, and the app will auto-pause during breaks.
What’s the difference between Auto-Pause, Stop and End Ride?
- Auto-Pause: Triggers automatically when your movement stops. The app will pause counting Moving Time. When you resume riding, the app will resume recording automatically.
- Stop: Tap this if you want to take a break from your ride and expect to be moving around a lot. The app will ignore any movement and stay in Stopped mode until you manually tap Resume. It will not resume automatically.
- End Ride: Tap this to finish and save your ride.
What should I do if I forgot to record a ride, or pressed Start/End too late?
Now you can manually add or edit rides in the Activity screen.
Will the app keep recording in the background or if I lock my phone?
Yes. Once you press “Start”, you can lock your phone or send the app to the background and it will continue recording the ride. But beware that if you Force Quit/Stop the app (for example, swiping up on the app from the home screen app switcher) it will no longer be running in the background and will not be able to continue recording.
Does the Cannondale Wheel Sensor do anything to improve my data in the Cannondale App?
When you do Start/End rides with a connected Wheel Sensor, it will contribute more accurate real-time speed, distance and moving time data to each ride. The Wheel Sensor also allows the app to more precisely detect when you are motionless to activate the “auto-pause” feature.
Can I record rides with the Cannondale Wheel Sensor automatically?
If you prefer the automated ride tracking that the Wheel Sensor provides, you can continue using that feature. If you don’t press “Start/End” in the app, the Wheel Sensor will record your basic ride info — this includes date, time, distance and speed, but it will not include GPS or elevation data — and that ride will appear in your ride list whenever you next manually sync your Wheel Sensor with the app (it will not sync on its own).
It’s important to remember that rides recorded by the Wheel Sensor are not available until the wheel has stopped moving for more than 5 minutes. If you are missing your last ride segment, please wait and sync with the app again later.
