Your Cannondale bike comes with a stem and handlebar combination that will fit most riders. On smaller frame sizes we install short stems and narrow handlebars, and this goes up through the range.
But when you have shorter or longer arms, or narrower or broader shoulders than average, you might want to finetune your bike for the optimal fit. To do so, we offer our stems in various lengths and our handlebars in various widths.
Most race, gravel and mountainbikes also come with a number of spacers under the stem when delivered new out of the box. This gives you an adjustment range to find your optimal seating position on the bike. When you remove spacers from under the stem and your position on the bike becomes lower, the excess length of the fork steerer is usually shortened (cut off). This is a specialist job that should be performed at your Cannondale dealer - and you can only do it once when you're sure that this is your right handlebar height!
Stem adjustments always require specific tools and know-how. We recommend visiting your Cannondale retailer to make sure everything’s dialed in safely and correctly.
